| Jim
Richardson
is a native of Texas
where he attended the University of Texas. From Houston, to
Dallas, to Pittsburgh, he managed operations of several local,
national and international companies in the fashion industry.
After his first
retirement in Pittsburgh, Jim created and wrote the “Seen”
Column, featured in the The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,
which chronicled the “who, what, where, when and how” of
notable events and people making a difference through their
contributions to the arts, non-profit organizations and the
business community. He volunteered and served on the
boards of several non-profit organizations, including: Three
Rivers Center for Independent Living, Baby Steps Program for
Easter Seals, The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh, The
Transitional Infant Care Unit, The Civic Light Opera, Art
For AIDS, The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and The
Pittsburgh Opera. He produced the annual “Seen Party,” a
yearly fundraiser, the proceeds of which benefited a
different non-profit organization each year.
In 2001, Jim and
his partner Jim Cook opened and operated a Bed & Breakfast in
historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania before retiring for a second
time. They chose Washington, DC for their new home and settled
on Rhode Island Avenue NW in Logan Circle where they were drawn
to the exciting blend of “History and Progress.” They enjoy the
area’s rich past, and vibrant present, and aspire to contribute
to the neighborhood’s unique character. With an active interest
in improving the quality of life, Jim and Jim served on the
Community Development Committee by appointment of Commissioner
Jim Brandon.
Following Jim
Brandon’s death, Jim Richardson became the representative for
ANC2F02. He was elected Commissioner in 2006.
Jim is looking
forward to contributing to our community through thoughtful
leadership and a hands-on approach and to making our
neighborhood the ultimate area in which to do business, to work,
and to live.
