Marriott Marquis Hotel Will Break Ground in ANC 2F!

The groundbreaking for the Washington Marriott Marquis, the new Walter E. Washington Convention Center Hotel will take place on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 11:00am.

Mayor Fenty, Council Chairman Gray, and Ward 2 Councilmember Evans will be joined by officials from the Washington Convention and Sports Authority, Destination DC, and the Chairman and CEO of Marriott International, Bill Marriott.

The groundbreaking and press conference will take place on the hotel’s future site within ANC 2F, at the intersection of 9th Street, NW and Massachusetts Avenue, NW (adjacent to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center).

ANC 2F’s next public meeting will be held at the Washington Plaza Hotel (10 Thomas Circle) at 7pm on Wednesday, October 6, 2010.

Agenda highlights include:

  • Reports by representatives of the Mayor, Councilmember Jack Evans, MPD, DDOT, and the Office of Planning;
  • ABRA matters: New Jon Black restaurant at 1612 14th Street NW;
  • DDOT matters: Kingman Street sidewalk/alley condition.
