Commissioner 2F04: John Fanning

John Fanning relocated to Washington, DC in 1984 and is a longtime resident of the Logan Circle & Shaw Communities residing in those neighborhoods for more than 20 years. A native of New York and a resident of Cliffside Park, NJ, where he received an associate’s degree in Public Administration from Bergen Community College, Paramus, NJ.

John was first elected to the Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2F in 1990 and again in 1992 serving two terms. 

He was then elected again to ANC 2F in 2012 & 2014, where he now serves as Chairman of ANC 2F. He was also a Mayoral Appointee serving in five Mayoral Administrations from 1995 – 2000 and again in 2007 – 2010, 2014 working in both the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations & Affairs and the Department of Parks and Recreation. John brings years of institutional knowledge and activism to the commission.

John most recently worked in the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services (MOCRS). Presently, John works at the Department of Small and Local Business Development as a Business Compliance Specialist. John is an active member of various Community & Political Organizations.

John was first elected to the Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2F in 1990 and again in 1992 serving two terms.
